I thought I saw an earlier post where some members said that simple green was good for cleaning engines. Has anyone used greased lightning? I am having a hard time finding someone who carries simple green down here, but i see greased lightning all over the place. Any suggestions?
Thanks!!
Thanks!!

I never heard of greased lightening. Simple Greenn works wonders. Know anyone who belongs to BJ's or Sam's Club? They have that stuff by the gallon. That's where I got mine

I haven't heard of Greased Lightning either. If you can't find Simple Green than you should give it a try and tell us how it works. I got my Simple Green from Walmart. It was with all the auto cleaning stuff.

The guys on the weekly car shows always seem to be pushing Greesed Lightning. Especially Sam Mamolla on "Two Guys Garage". He even has his own commercial for it. In the commercial, all his bottles and containers of G.L. are always empty....is that a good sign or a bad thing?

Yea but on a counter note glenn, have you ever seen them work on a dirty undercarriage or engine bay? I haven't. Kinda make me suspicious. Besides if he is promoting it through his own commercials, wouldn't it pay to always make them look empty during the show?

Vette(s): 1979 Black coupe. 11256 original, documented, miles on it when I bought it in April of 2000. It now has 13100 on it. Oyster interior, like new. Everything original, everything works, except the clock. Paint has a couple of minor flaws.

I've never heard of greased lightening, but we have simple green all over the place around here (St Louis Area). I haven't used either one though. However I have found a cleaning product in Dollar general stores called Mean Green, and I think it is real good at cutting oil and grease. reasonable too.
I'm not saying it is the best, but I like it.

I have also used Gunk. It works good, but I think it removes paint, too.

I just saw Greased Lightning at Advance Auto parts the other day. I'm about out of Simple Green so I'm thinking about trying it. But Simple Green has always worked for me, so I don't know if I want switch to something else all of a sudden.
