Dave-- 8-10 years ago i owned a dodge shelby charger--the clear coat on the wheels was in poor shape--when the time came to replace the tires i did it when the old tires were off the rims. I usedf a paint stripper in a aerosol can and recleared them also w/aerosol can which was a clear made for alloy wheels by "Duplicolor"---looked very good---some folks thought I'd bought new wheels. The paint stripper worked very well also---sprayed it on--let it sit a certain amount of time ( I could see it working)--then rinse it off with a water hose.
