Dessicant is a general term for anything that absorbs moisture from the air. They range from those little bags of silica in sneaker boxes (do not eat) to the ones in a plastic net bag that are filled with what looks like white cat litter. They can be found in lots of places, like Pep Boys or Walmart. I have had a few of the bigger ones for years. Just lay them out in the hot sun when they lose their effectiveness. Joe

Vette(s): 1974 Roadster being restored now!
|QUOTE|VTHokie77Vette said: Thanks for the tip. I'll have to try that stuff out next time I go away for school. I haven't had a problem with mildew yet, but it would be nice to have something in the car while it is covered up for 3-4 months at a time. Where can you find it at?|/QUOTE|

Hey, Mid America has them... They've actually got an entire storage prep kit with some -fuel fresh, sta-dri moisture protection kit, Garage mat for your leaks, and silicon grease for your weatherstrip...

Or you can just get the sta-dri. It's supposed to protect from rust too. Makes sense, no moisture, no oxidation, no rust!

You can also get industrial sized dessicants from boating supply stores. We put a few big ones in our boats every winter. Plus we have electric dehumidifiers running 24/7 inside the boats all winter to help keep condensation / mildew out. They really work well considering the boats are stored on the boatlifts at the dock in the backyard - ie hovering over the river all winter. |rollysmile|
