So this happened in Tempe, AZ: a C8 driver decided to film himself doing 140+ mph across the Mill Avenue Bridge. Not just a quick pull -- full-on Performance Data Recorder footage, posted online. The car had already been flagged multiple times for reckless driving and noise complaints, so it wasn’t exactly flying under the radar.
Next day, same Corvette gets spotted again. This time, a bike cop tries to stop him at a light. The driver pauses… then floors it through multiple reds. Not smart. Tempe PD wasn’t messing around -- they deployed a grappler-equipped patrol unit and snagged the car mid-run. Driver arrested, car impounded.
Bodycam footage shows the officer asking, “Why would you slow down and then rapidly accelerate from the police?” Driver’s response: “Are you sure that was me?” 🤦♂️
Fleeing from a marked police car in Arizona is a class 5 felony. That’s up to 1.5 years in prison and a $150K fine. And let’s be honest -- the grappler probably didn’t do the C8’s rear end any favors.
