A little discussion starter.
In the C7 generation I first got a Stingray and not even a Z51. I later thought that was a mistake. I added a ZO6 front grille to it because I didn’t like the base grille. When I discovered the GS was coming I jumped on it and enjoyed the upgrade.
Now the 8th gen is getting more big changes for 2027. I have a 2023 Z51. After the interior refresh in ‘26 the new model year has a whole new engine shared that with the new GS.
A 2LT coupe GS is $95,600 adding the Z52”sport” package gets it to $99,100.
A Stingray 2LT coupe is $80,600. Adding the Z51 and FE4 mag ride gets it to $88,000.
Ignoring any other options I’m asking myself if the built in other stuff of the GS is a must have.
Visually, I don’t “see” the wide body difference enough to make it a must have. Same engine and tranny.
My 2023 Z51 with 2LT and FE4 is very satisfying.
Why am I buying a ‘27? The interior and engine/drivetrain enhancements. Some will say even the Z51 and FE4 are not needed if not going to track it. But I appreciate these items. And if the Stingray is in the employee purchase program, 10% comes off the price making a $20K difference between the two.
The GS won’t be in it for sure.
Writing this has helped me decide.
Thanks for reading.

If you don't care about the wide body look then I see no reason to spend the money on a GS.

To be honest I haven't studied the C8 model/trim options to any great extent so can't speak with any real authority on the differences between them. While the C8 is a technological wonderment I can only dream about one as they are WAY outside of my meager budget range. That being said, the C6 GS has been holding its resale value much, much better than the base model even tho' the GS was produced in far more numbers. I'm not as familiar with the C7 numbers but would expect the same trend occurred within that generation. IMHO the recent interior upgrade was a HUGE improvement for the C8. And if the value performance of the previous gens GS is any indicator, my hunch would be that the C8 GS will hold its resale value better than base model cars. My two pennies worth.
