VIDEO AND MANY PICS AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS POST!
Some big news just dropped from Sebring, and it’s a massive shakeup for the C8 lineup. Chevy is officially bringing back the Grand Sport for 2027, but they aren't just giving us a wide-body Stingray this time. They are introducing a brand new engine and a high-tech AWD variant.
Here is the breakdown of what you need to know:
The Big News: The 6.7L LS6 V8
Forget the LT2. For 2027, the Stingray and Grand Sport are getting a massive 6.7L (409 cu in) naturally aspirated V8dubbed the LS6.

- Output: 535 hp and 520lb-ft of torque.
- The Vibe: Chevy is calling it "jackhammer fury." It’s got a 13.0:1 compression ratio and a 95-mm throttle body.
- Bonus : For the first time on a C8 pushrod V8, we’re getting an available quad center-exit exhaust.
The Purist Pick: The Grand Sport
This is the heritage play. It’s RWD, wide-body, and focused on being the "sweet spot" for daily driving and track days.
- Standard Mag Ride and a new low-dust braking package.
- If you want to go nuts, there’s a Z52 Track Package that adds the Z06’s iron brakes, or a higher tier with carbon ceramics and Pilot Sport Cup 2R rubber.
The Game Changer: The Grand Sport X (GS-X)
This is where it gets wild. Following the ZR1 naming convention, the "X" denotes eAWD.

- It pairs that 6.7L V8 with a front-axle electric motor (borrowed from the ZR1X).
- Total Output: A massive 721 hp.
- It has "Stealth Mode" for quiet neighborhood exits and a "Push-to-Pass" button for max power on demand.
Availability & Heritage
They showed off a "Launch Edition" in Arctic White and a GS-X in "Pitch Gray Metallic." Production is moving back to Flint, Michigan, for the engines, which is a cool nod to the original 1955 V8s.

They’ve basically turned the Grand Sport into a "baby ZR1" with that AWD option. 721 hp in a GS is insane.
