I just bought a 2010 ZR1 and currently it is en route to Istanbul, Turkey where I live.

I need to find out the engine number of the car before it arrives here so I can have the car customs cleared very quickly by preparing and submitting documents early. Otherwise it will have to stay in the customs lot for some days.

Can anyone shed some light on this? Is the engine number the sequence number?

Thanks

The place where you bought it will have all the info...contact them.

Good luck.

You are not going to believe it - they do not have the information. All the documentation they have lists VIN and not the engine number separately.

Its possible they may not have it on hand, but they can get it for you...no doubt about it.

Tell them if you have to hire a private source to get the correct numbers; you will bill them for that persons price.

I think you're right. Mine is 1095 for 2010.

You wouldn't believe what a common problem this is. I had the same issue here in Aus. I purchased a new 2012 ZR1 and nothing in the paperwork from the dealer/importer/customs mentions engine number. My problem starting with registering the car in the state where I live - where they insist on it - not just the VIN. After following a number of leads, forum comments it appears (in my case anyway) that the number is on the rear Left hand side of the block just above the bell-housing. The number is also the last 8 digits of the VIN where the first digit is replaced by a '1'. This is not what I expected as in a previous forum for ZR1/Z06 it mentions an engine number consisting of a ZA? code for model year, Plant Code (3 for Wixom), Build Line, Julian date, Year Built and Engine built that day. Further complicating this here is the compulsory conversion to Right Hand Drive in Australia which places wiring looms/hoses over this area so its not possible to view unless you place the vehicle on a hoist. In the end after the inspector tried with a remote camera for 20 minutes and me getting anxious about his stomach rubbing down my carbon fiber guard we both gave up and it was passed without anybody actually seeing it apart from the firm that converted the car to RHD when it was dismantled. I think they eventually used the numbers stamped on one of the heads or on the bottom of the block near the LHS Engine Mounting pad but at that stage he just wanted any stamped number he could find. I'm not sure why it can't be more visible and at least noted on the build sheet. Maybe the germans should have used this rather than the Enigma machine - then it never would have been cracked.
