I was invited to visit the Performance Build Center in Wixom, MI. For those unaware, the PBC is GM Powertrain's new facility for building the LS7 Corvette engine. They also build Cadillac's Northstar V8.
To say I was impressed is an understatement! Each engine is hand built, start to finish, by one technician. After assembly, the tech attaches a name plate with his/her name on it. The attention to quality and accuracy is unbelieveable!
If anyone has questions...ask away.

My host during the assembly plant tour (Bowling Green, KY) said the LS2 was made in Canada. He was a bit puzzled to see a dolly full of engines from Romulus, MI.
I could not discern a difference in engines during my tour. I am suggesting that the engines for the Z06 and the standard LS2 look the same. Perhaps the Romulus, MI versions were the Z06 versions. Boy I sure could tell the ZO6 exhausts (same shape but bigger diameter) from the LS2 versions.

The current Vette engine is made in St Catherine's, Ontario.
The current Z06 engine (LS7) is built in Wixom, MI, at GM's Perfornace Build Center. Cadillac's Northstar engine is also built at PBC.
Several years ago the base Corvette engines were made at St Catherine's AND Romulus, MI. The engines are shipped 3 to a metal shipping crate. Some of the crates being used today still have "ROMULUS, MI" stenciled on them. But Romulus no longer builds Corvette engines.
How do I know this? I've been thru all these facilities.

That makes sense. My host could not explain the Romulus dolly.
