targa roof on coupes

On base model coupes, do the cars have a removable roof or is it an option?   Secondly, do the panels come in glass and color matched panels?

Does this feature change as you go from 2005 to present?

I am a new C6 member and trying to educate myself before buying one.

ANDY, THE BASIC C6-LS-2 COUPE TOPS ARE STANDARD SINGLE UNIT TOPS THAT COME PAINTED THE COLOR OF YOUR VETTE. A OPTIONAL CLEAR TINTED SINGLE TOP CAN BE OPTIONED FROM G.M. OR MOST  AUTOMOTIVE SUPPLIERS. THE C-6  LS-2 CONVERTIBLE COMES WITH A POWERED OR UNPOWERED FOLDING TOP, I BELIEVE THERE IS A OPTION FOR A HARD TOP BOLT ON FROM G.M. OR SUPPLIER. THE ABOVE HOLDS TRUE FOR ALL LS-2 CORVETTES FROM 2005 TO PRESENT 2012 MODELS.

HI ANDY,
    YES, I OWN A 2005 C6 LS-2 COUPE, VICTORY RED, BOTH TOPS, NAVIGATION SYSTEM, HEADS UP DISPLAY AND ALL THE OTHER GOODIES. THE GOOD THING ABOUT THE 05 IS THAT I HAVE BEEN IN STYLE WITH THE C6 BODY ALL THE WAY TO 2012. 
    WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FOR ?

You will find that most come from the factory with either the "tinted" polycarbonate top, or the dual roof package (above plus the painted top).
 
I have both but prefer the painted top.

I'm going to buy a Tinted top this spring, I had both on my 85 and really, I only liked the tint for spring and fall

Vette(s): 2006 Monterey Red Coupe / 2013 Night Race Blue Metallic Coupe with Cashmere Interior.

I have had 2 C6 coupes.  A 2006 and now a 2013.  All C6s have the one piece removable roof as standard.  The LS2 engine from 2005 through 2007 and the LS3 engine from 2008 through 2013 are the same targa roof setup.  The biggest difference is that for late 2005 and 2006 GM changed the composite adhesive for the roof which was not sufficient.  My 2006 roof started creaking and making popping noises due to delamination of the layers of the roof and the adhesive.  Chevy replaced the roof under a factory recall and the dealer then repainted the solid color roof to match.  This was not the case with the smoked top, only the body color roof panel.  There have been no problems from 2007 through 2013.  BTW, I was surprised when I received my 2013 in that it had all kinds of 60th anniversary emblems all over the car.


Good luck with your C6.  It's a great car and hope you enjoy it as much as I have.
