I picked up my 2005 at the museum and headed straight for the Tail of The Dragon. What a blast

That is not a bad plan!
I was "did The Tail" a few years ago in my C3. That was one of the best times I ever had in a Vette! That road is MADE for Vettes!
However, I did suffer from a bit of brake-pedal fade on the downhill side. I suspect your C6 didn't have any trouble at all!

I did not use the brakes, just the great 6 speed transmission.

I'd like to try that "Tail of the Dragon" some time. Doesn't it go through 2 different states?

I plan on going to FunFest in September and on the way back to Vermont will take a run on the dragon.

The "tail of the dragon" is an exciting piece of road running between Tenn. and NC. Do a search on the internet and you will find all the information you need. It was a lot of fun and if I get down in that part of the country I would do it again. It does require some caution as some of the drivers in on comming traffic do cross the yellow lines! Have fun.

Along with a bunch of C3VR folk in our C3s we did the TOTD a few years ago. It was BY FAR the most fun I've ever had in my Vette! You do have to be VERY careful of other traffic in both directions. And be sure your brakes are in great shape! Because the tail winds up a mountain side, eventually you have to come back down. My brakes suffered from fade and made the last part of the journey a little TOO adventurous!

Thanks for info. I found a place I suppose maybe similiar to TOD. The place I found was when leaving Bowling Green (this last summer) instead of heading directly back to Texas we went east to the Daniel Boone National Forest which runs north/south. We entered in Kentucky and excited in Tennessee. It too was a fun drive through the hills....(where I'm from those are mountains!!!!). There is another place in Arkansas as well. Found it during '09 caravan. Anyway...thanks a bunch.

Tail of the Dragon is definitely worth the trip. For latest road conditions, police locations and photos check their web site here.
Enjoy, but beware of trucks!
