I've had my seat cover replaced on the drivers side by the dealer due to friction of getting in and out of the car. The leather coating is paper thin. My dealer said this is a very common problem, yet no fix is indicated by Chevy. Any after market covers, or suggestions would be appreciated.

Try CoverKing SeatCovers in either the Leatherette or Neopreme.......colors will match your interior. They both look good and will save you original seats. You can buy them online at CoverKing.com for about $220.00.

Yes, my '07 seat has worn thin on the outside, drivers side. My dealers service manager says I have a three year warranty on it. So I am waiting until near my three years are up and get it replaced under warranty. Than after that I guess I will need to do something on my own-replace the cover again or get seat covers. I have a cashmere interior-I think if you have a black interior you would not notice the wear as soon. ???

I have an 07, driver seat back cover has been replaced once. I'll wait untill about 29999mi then do it again. It's a shame they cant do better with the grade of leather.

I had my 05 Ebony drivers seat replaced under warranty. The Rep. told me it was a one time replacement. They reprogrammed the seat to act like an automatic transmission car, so that it retracts when exiting the car to help with the rub problem.

The EXIT feature (seat retracting) is very nice - and present in my 2001 C5.  These features are controlled when you program the key fob (or DIC) for various drivers.  My key fob sets the seats, mirrors, and HVAC for me, while my wife's key fob takes accomodates her presets within the car.

If you want GOOD leather ... use www.LeatherSeats.com.  I have found their quality to be far superios to any other manufacturer - even the hi-end custom manufacturer's/

For safety reasons the default for the manual transmission car, the seat will only retract manually by pushing the retract button on the door. For an automatic by default  the seat auto retracts when the  park brake is set and the ignition is switched off and the door release is pushed.  They made mine act like an automatic.

I'd have to go jump in my C5 - but it sounds like the C6 differed from the C5.  FWIW - mine is a 6 speed.

I jumped into my C5.  It is in the DIC - under OPTIONS.  SEATS EASY EXIT ON/OFF.  When you pull the key out of the ignition, the seat retracts backwards, and the steering wheels sucks in towards the dash.  No need to take the car to the dealer - "reprogramming the car" takes less than 60 seconds in your garage.  I am sure the directions are in the drivers manual.  I have 17K miles on my C5, and have never had the need to have any leather replaced.

Some of the other Corvette forums have lots of pics of interiors though MAMW and other vendors.  While they look nice, IMO, their quality of leather goods is inferior as compared to LeatherSeats.com.  Don't take my word for it - ask each one of them to send you a swatch.  Last time I checked, MAMW was more money as well.

I would be interested to hear of anyone who has had leather replaced - if they have been using the EASY EXIT option.  I do not get in and out of my C5 the same way I get into my other cars.  I take more care, so as to not damage the car (or me).  Take your time - your seats will love you for it!  Smile
