Problem with convertible top

My 2006 is showing wear about one inch from the outermost edge of the seams these are the points that make contact with the carpeting when the top is folding down on the drivers side although small the metal of the frame is showing through, Has anybody had or heard of this happening?
My dealer said they had to contact GM and are presently waiting for a reply.
