The OnStar 6.01 has been installed in most 2004 & 2005 GM vehicles. To use your Verizon American Choice Plan and other current features with OnStar you need Onstar digital 6.01 hardware.
All C6 Corvettes (GM's Flagship) have been equipped with the older 5.0 hardware that will not work with the Verizon Plan and is missing other enhancements. OnStar does not have an upgrade kit for the C6. If you have OnStar in your C6 Call OnStar 888-466-7827 promt #4 and ask when they will have an upgrade to 6.01 hardware.
Also call the Chevrolet Customer Assistance Center 800-222-1020 and ask them to talk to OnStar about getting upgrade kits to our dealers ASAP. |headscratch|

So, if you have a Verizon phone, you are able to use OnStar to make your phone calls using your current Cell Phone Number and Plan?

Yes ,If GM had installed the current 6.01 hardware in our C6 Corvettes. All 2005 Corvettes have the old 5.0 hardware. OnStar must have had some old hardware that they needed to dump on us. Call your dealer, OnStar & GM.
They can come up with an upgrade. |idea|

For the heck of it, I test drove an XLR yesterday - nice car, but it too has the old 5.01 hardware. Guess we'll have to wait until they use up their inventory.

Has anyone got a price on the cost to upgrade the hardware t vers. 6?

This is a big ripoff. You can use your Verivon phone min. and billing with this agreement with OnStar if we had 6.01 .Now with the old junk 5.01 we need to use OnStar at a higher rate per min. |ick|

I just updated my CTS V to Digital On Star hardware. The gimmick is that, if you buy the upgrade, you get the prepaid OnStart one year package as part of the deal. I then put my V and C6 onto my Verizon account. They are considered additional Cell Phone contracts, each added for just $9.99 per month (plus taxes, etc. each car totals $15.00). The only problem is that if you travel into an area not served by Verizon, you will pay a $0.10/minute roaming charge. Otherwise, it is just a Verizon shared minutes play. Oh yeah! One more thing. It just happened that Verizon changed their minimum service plan to 700 minutes at a cost that is an added $10.00 per month. So (in Iowa) for me it is $69.99 with four Cell Phone connections (including the two cars) comes to $115.00 a months (more taxes and fees, of course).
