Does anyone know how to disable the audible sound when selecting options in the control panel?

Is there nothing in the owner's manual on this? If not, then there may not be a way to do it. |headscratch|

TRY THIS:

Radio preset button no. 6. 2006 owner's manual, page 3-101.

Note: this info. does not seem to be in the 2007 owner's manual.

Chime Level Adjustment
The radio is used to adjust the vehicle’s chime level.
To change the volume level of the chime, press and hold
pushbutton 6 with the ignition on and the radio power
off. The volume level will change from the normal
level to loud, and LOUD will appear on the radio display.
To change back to the default or normal setting,
press and hold pushbutton 6 again. The volume level
will change from the loud level to normal, and NORMAL
will appear on the radio display. Only one chime will
be heard when changing from the normal to the
loud setting. Each time the chime volume is changed,
three chimes will sound as an example of the new
volume selected. Removing the radio and not replacing
it with a factory radio or chime module will disable
vehicle chimes.

I found the information in my owner's manual (page 3-101), but it is for a regular radio. I have the nav system and there are no hard keys to press and hold.

Okay ... here is the answer. The only way to change the chime volume on Vettes with the nav system is to take the car to your dealer and a tech can tap in to the control module and make the adjustment. I haven't done it yet, as I am planning to have them do it when I take the Vette in for service. I'm told it takes about five minutes. Not the best solution maybe ... but it is a solution. I will probably just have the tech turn the chime off completely.

Thanx for that info! |thumb| A question, tho...
Does anyone have the factory service manual(s) for a C6?
I'd be willing to bet the info is in there, and that it does not require a trip to the dealer. I've heard the same sad story from dealers about other "re-programing-re-setting" situations. "You need to bring it in, and it will take about 45 minutes blah-blah-blah". Upon checking the service manual, I find it is a simple, 2 minute procedure, requiring nothing but locating a particular plug/module/connector, and grounding in a sequence of sorts. 5 minutes, and free!(well...free except for the cost of the service manuals!) |toungecool|
