My C6 convertible was making a clicking noise when the convertible tonneau cover was trying to close and the only way I could get it closed was to push on it. Later it would not close at all. Come to find out it was the plastic gear case that had cracked and the gears could not close it anymore at all. I have created a PDF file of how I solved this problem on my car. Apparently this is a common and well-known failure mode on C6. I had to replace the assy on my 2012 around a year ago. IIRC I paid around $120 for a GM part. Pretty easy to do. Looking forward to seeing your PDF.

I could not upload my PDF file here but I was able to convert the PDF pages into JPG images, so here it is. The quality is not as good as the PDF file, but you can get the idea until Adam loads it into the "Tips and Tricks" or "How To" Research Topics
