Today I heard from a very reliable source that the C-6 will become a very desireable car - if a) GM goes bankrupt b) GM does not go bankrupt and has to produce government dictated cars.
For what it is worth - please do not shoot the messenger!!!

Vette(s): 2005 Black Coupe
Auto Trans
Corsa Sport Exhaust
AirRaid Intake
Z06 Sway Bars
I'm glad I've got one then.
It would be a sad day if GM stopped building Vettes......I hate government mandates!!!!

GOSSIP! Reliabler source within GM, Chevrolet, or the neighborhood? Sources can gossip as well!
The same can be said about the Charger, 300C, Challenger, Mustang, etc. That aside - why just the C6? Why not the C5, SSR, or other GM muscle cars?
As an aside - the Government cannot mandate what is produced by a manufacturer, unless they have guidelines as to what is legal, illegal, or other issues, such as CAFE (etc). Even CAFE does not preclude the C6 from being built.

I think you might be right on this one. I believe there will be some sort of government control(bankruptcy or government car czar dictating policy) and the next generation Vette will get shoved to the back burner if not shelved all together.

So, government policy will specifically target the Corvette ... WHY? For offering relatively good MPG - or for not being affordable to people on welfare? This sort of stuff comes out almost every time a new body style is offered on a car. "You'll never see this type of car again". Heck - they've been saying that about the Viper - even BEFORE the SRT! Does this mean the Dodge Neon will be on the hit list for offering an SRT as well? I guess the HEMI is on the list as well?
