GM has promised to make the LS7 available as a crate engine. This will allow GM to turn out a very consistent and very reliable engine. It takes an expert at the Wixom plant four hours to assemble a LS7 engine and plant capacity is about 30 engines per a week.
The current issue of GM High-Tech performance (July/August 2005)actually goes thru two builds of 427 liters. One is by MTI (in TX) and the other is an actual LS7 in the GM shops. My point in mentioning this is that the Z06 is going to be so unavailable due to long waiting lists that one best build one. This pretty much means the M6 owners only as no automatic can handle the torque yet.
