I am going to order a c6 silver corvette coupe with a transparent roof panel. Does it not come with a body colored top if you do not order the transparent one and if so why does it does it cost over $1200.00 for both but only $750.00 if you only order the glass?
I realize that this may be a stupid question to some of you, but I would like to have an explanation.
Thanks.

Hate to say it, but that's the way it is. I had the same issue with my 2001 C-5. You get both, which is a shame, because once you put the transparent top on, you'll never want to use the body colored one.

I know sounds like a deep pocket needed here. That be the way it is. Just an old American enterprise excercising it's capitalistic way. You wouldn't want any other way though.
Just rack it up to the cost of having fun and playing hard. You only live once.
Look at it this way. Don't get any tickets and you'll be saving money.
The same thing could be said about alot of things. Look what you'll pay for a set of Callaways.

Believe it or not there was so damn much sun here in Tacoma for about 6 weeks that I put my black top on my LT4 for about one month. It also gave me a chance to see how I might like the viewless top on a Z06. The clouds are back and so is the transparent top. Blackspin

the problem with using the glass tops in my C3 is that my A/C doesn't work. So I wind up baking in the sun. I only use them in the early spring and fall.

The reason both tops cost $1200 is if you only get the Transparent top a cerdit is applied for the body color top. The transparent top cost $1200 if you had to replace it through GM.

To clarify the above (I hope) ... the body colored top is a STD feature. To get the transparent top ... there is a $750 fee to UPGRADE to the transparent top ... which is a $1200 item (but not taking the body colored top ... you are getting partial credit). If you want both tops ... you get the STD body colored top ... and pay the $1200 fee for the transparent top.
Hope that helps.
Hope that helps.
