Composite Panels
Corvette has a long unmatched history with advanced composite materials going back to 1953. This experience enables Corvette body panels to benefit from state-of-the-art techniques in composite technology. In general, the Corvette exterior can be referred to as “composite.” But in fact, engineers use a combination of several different types of advanced composite materials. Each is selected for the mission of a specific area of the exterior. Many of the main panels on Corvette are made out of a composite called SMC, which doesn’t rust or corrode and is resistant to dents or dings.
