Replaced water pump on 91 vert with L98 and ended up with an extra bracket I have no idea where it goes. Can someone give me a clue?

Hard to tell from the pic. Can you get different angle pics that shows the size and shape? Looks like it might be a belt protector bracket, but it could also be to hold the heater hose(s) out of the way.
