Question I cannot find the answer to;
under the radiator cap & below the coolant line fitting there's a hole, does it need to be capped? does coolant just spill out when it gets hot?
i'm getting the coolant low message but there are no codes when I connect the code scanner. also the coolant temp reads 299 when clearly its not that hot.
its an '87 C4. I really appreciate any help on this.

Can you get a pic of this "hole"? If there is coolant blowing it of it when running, then yes, it needs to be plugged. Just not clear on where this hole is...
299f temp is obviously incorrect...could simply be a bad temp sensor, or a short in the sensor wiring.

Its the hole right under the white letter K-85 or K-86, yes cololant does spill out when running, could it be I'm missing a coolant line that should go somewhere else? is there a sensor missing? the coolant temp sensor on an '87 is under the throttle body.
I'll take a pic as soon as I can.

I think you may be talking about the coolant level sensor, it just snaps in and has one wire going to it. Rock Auto has them for less than $15.00.

Yeah, sure enough, it was the radiator sensor missing from that hole! It was pinned underneath the car, so I didn't see it from up top. Its now in and the coolant temp and levels are normal.

The car is running like a beast! The idle is still all over the map, when stopped at a red light it'll go from 6 all the way up th 14. Besides having the car dyno-tuned, is there some sort of idle regulator one could add-on?

Sounds like a Vacuum leak. Can you check around and see if you have a disconnected vacuum hose? That's the first thing I would l would look for. Sounds like a large leak.

My local mechanic found a massive vacuum leak and fixed it. Since I changed the headers, I had to leave the O2 sensor unconnected. I'm thinking that may have something to do with it as the engine is running in an open loop mode.
The EGR pip has been covered up for the same reason, I wonder what the right thing to do is with this O2 sensor

My basic understanding is that O2 sensor reads your exhaust output and with the reading from the MAF sensor that is sent to the On-Board computer to adjust the fuel injector pulses to maintain as close to 14:1 ratio of air to fuel.
