Does anyone have a video of their exhaust (Vetttube.com or youtube.com)???

My advice to anyone looking to buy a new exhaust system, is to just pick out the exhaust that sounds best to them.  A different sound is, after all, the biggest reason people ditch their factory exhaust systems to begin with....

Pick an exhaust that sounds good to you and don't worry about anything else.   Any performance increase you're likely to get out of an aftermarket exhaust will be pretty much the same regardless of what brand it is.  It's only when you get into really high HP applications where some brands tend to perform better than others, but for a stock/mildy built street cars, they'll all perform about the same.  Late model C4's in particular, already have a really good flowing exhaust from the factory so you're not likely to feel much, if any, improvement other than a nicer sound.

I ran a  Borla exhaust system on both my previous Fbody cars but when I picked up my '92 Vette last year, I chose to go with Corsa instead.  My biggest reason for choosing to go with Corsa (aside from the fact I love the sound of an LT1 Vette with this exhaust) is that it's the only exhaust system I know of that all but eliminates interior drone.  I used to love driving around in really LOUD cars (part of the reason I always ran Borla on my Fbodys Big smile)  but now that I'm older (and a little bit wiser) I've grown tired of all the loudness and "drone" that usually goes along with it.  My Vette is a daily driver rain or shine and I put a lot of miles on her every day.  I don't want to put up with the hastle of listening to drone all day long.  The Corsa does it's job very well and keeps my interior drone-free.

Of coarse, it wasn't untill I finally heard what my car sounds like being driven by somebody else, that I finally realised that while it may be quite in the interior, when the car is floored, it's frightingly loud on the outside LOL

I can't wait to finish my 396 LT4 and drop her in.  My Corsa's will definitely have their work cut for them then....

Threw the Magnaflows on as it was just too quiet, it does drone but sounds good when you get on it. very simple install...cut off old ones...bolt on new ones ...45 minutes.

I have a borla cat back exhaust system that I really like.  Exhaust sounds great.  Little bit of an echo inside a building though.  Next time I will have to shoot the video outside.

How about exhaust cutouts? I was thinking about getting someone to weld a short y pipe right behind each muffler on the stock exhaust so its loud on demand and quiet for the late nights...

I wonder if it would sound like the muffler eliminators or maybe better???

Hey Mike.  You mean behind the resonator, kinda like the old lake pipes??  Can you pass emisions in Jersey with that set up?  Probably sound great, but the resonance might make your head explode LOL

Dogfish246.  Thanks for posting the video with sound.  I have a 93 and have been thinking of upgrading the exhaust for some time now.   Not really interested in the performance but the sound sends chills down my back.  My concern is in the droan that I have heard about.  My vette is a weekend cruiser spending much of the time on the highways running in 6th. I am not what you would call a mechanic so can you tell me where you started and stopped the new exhaust.  What do I need  to do to get that sound.  Also can anyone chime in on the best place to buy the Corsa.

Thanks
Mike

What I mean is right in front of the muffler (where the exhaust pipe connects to the muffler) so that the cutouts aim right under the mufflers (to reduce resonance and keep exhaust gases out of the car). I dont think that there will be a problem with emissions in NJ as long as the cutouts are closed during the inspection.

Just an idea I had. I wish I could find someone with cutouts to hear/see how it worked for them...

Not a bad idea, I have thought about the similar pipes, just behind resonator, exiting in front of rear wheels.  Not sure what the effect would be on cutting back pressure and increased noise and after spending the money on the Corsa's (which I love), I'm afraid to find out LOL
I'm leaning toward headers (Exotic Muscle) and Random Tech. cats thru the Corsa, hoping for performance gain but keeping the resonance at bay, while still passing emissions.  Of course then I'll have to do the heads and cam and intake...Wacko
