hey everybody..does anybody know how much cfm the radiator fan is blowing out and how many amps its using on the 85 vette???as we all know the cooling system on vettes are not that great...im looking to up-grade my  fan by 1500 more cfm then the stock fan...before i shell out alot of cash on  aftermarket high performance fans, its important for me to know how many cfm my stock fan is blowing out...because as we all know the more cfm the better the cooling...

[/QUOTE] well today i got the gm  archives department on the phone..they told me that the fan cfm wasnt recorded in there files..they did tell me that the fan is runing at 2100 rpm and is using 12 amps...it seems that the cfm on the corvette fans are top secret information...also i called up spal factory fans today and i told them about the perma cool fans are blowing 2950 cfm and using 9amps,they argued that it was impossible for a fan to use 9-amps and blow out that many cfm...shopping for a fan is a lot harder then i thought..the guy at spal said  if the fan is using alot of amps the cfm is high..im like  hey my stock fan uses alot of amps, how am i supose to know which after market high performance fan is an upgrade from my stock fan...im about ready to give up on shopping for a aftermarket high performance fan,and go to the local u-pick junk yard, and get a 20 dollar 16-inch fan off of a caddy and put it in front of my radiator and use it as a pusher...that should work pretty good combined with the stock puller fan...any sugestions????

Why not get the pusher fan set-up from an '85? Cars with the heavy dooty cooling system had two fans...the one by the engine, and one in front of the radiator. That's the way my '85 is, and it's never overheated on me, even in the 100+ deg temps, and major traffic here in Texas.
I think Gordon Killebrew  would probably be the only human that could answer the CFM question, if anyone.
