mike check my post after your original post. i got the replacement solenoid that was to replace the original and the egr valve was the correct one for my car. even after all i did light still came on until i put the old solenoid back in. stayed off for about 2 months and is back on when i drive to work and home. when i shut the car off it stays off until i reach that certain point and will come on again. as long as it is running as good as it is i am not going to go crazy about it. like i said it probably something stupid.

Thanks again Vaught but I sent an inquiry to Advance Auto about the "Delco  $41.99 Spring" back in July with no reply. So with your last posting I called them directly and they couldn't tell what it was, however they do have the part any way. And Eddie, your right on "don't  go nuts over this"  but it still bugs me.

I had the same problem and after the same checks you guys went though I started looking else where, first I put a 180 degree thermostat in and that made it take a lot longer trip to trip the check engine light, but I started running premium fuel and since I did that mine hasn't triped the light, don't know if it is a combination but the light is out and I am happy, just something you can try, hope it works for you also. You can also check with Chris Petris who is a guru on C4's, he has all the necessary equipment to reflash computers and proms, his e-mail is chris@petrisenterprises.com

reviving an old thread here. as stated, when i got the car back on the road (beginning of april) the lite stayed off after i went back to the original solenoid. started coming back on around august and i figured it was the same old thing. figured at least i got 4 months out of it.

was replacing the weatherstripping and had the hood open for something else and i noticed that all the vacuum connections were cracked. never thought of that as i replaced all the hoses in april. the problem is they are plastic and dry out and crack from the heat. replaced them again and lite hasn't been on since.

check the vacuum hoses as that maybe it.

Thanks eddie, I have replaced all the vacuum lines from the intake manifold thru the egr system. I still get the light but it takes its time to come on. My baby is running great though. Drove it from Michigan to Floida in the fall and cruising in the the sunsine state all winter with no problems at all. She seems to be content down here.

glad to hear its running great. hope you changed the ones that go to the canister in the left front well and the cruise control.

would have never thought about the lines as i did replace them. just dried out quickly and cracked. i changed the location of the tee from ove the engine to the back of the wheel well where all the other lines are. i am going to try and find a rubber vacuum hose that i can slide the plastic thru so the rubber acts like a shield. will do that for the two lines that go over the engine and hopefully the lines won't crack as fast.

been the same place as mike if not even further. have had a few mechanics that can't answer the problem as everything they have suggested, i already did. when the light comes on as long as the car is running great i don't even let it bother me. enjoy the ride mike it's great as you say light or no light.
