as i said before, it is probably one of those simple little things that are being overlooked. it might have been simple but it had a lot of us stumped. the car was in an accident last week and as soon as i can i will look for this simple piece even though i didn't see it when i removed the intake but then again i didn't even know to look for it. thanks for the info.

The switch is on the 85-89, but not on the 90-91.
A different ECM in combo with a solenoid took care of it.
Solenoid is under the TB on the driver side on 90-91.
Not sure if 85-89 has a solenoid and/or in the same place.

the solenoid is mounted on the thermostat housing. i got an upgraded one for it as the original did the same thing. i also know they have the solenoid on an 88 as blackvette88 is a friend of mine. thanks for the info.

Question about the Code 32.
Those who have trouble shot the EGR system after a code 32, have they also checked into the charcoal canister as that is also connected to the vacuum circuit?
I have code 32 popping up now and then, but don´t want to dig into that one, but maybe it is where the culprit lies for many of us.
