Anyone heard of using pure lacquer thinner to clean these out, mine is plugged and I've seen pretty good results! just curious?

I'd buy new before introducing a chemical into an extreme heat area.
If worried about "originality", just stash the old one someplace dry.

Never heard of anyone doing that. If you still have the original converter(s) on your car, with the mods you have listed, I would certainly recommend replacing what you have with a hi-flow aftermarket converter set-up....just doesn't make any sense to try to "clean" a clogged converter, imho.
