My 1990/stock 350 runs like crap. Once I hit about 45mph it starts to bog down and a loss of power. My mechanic says it needs a fuel pump and new injectors. Is it possible that with 72,000 miles the injectors are all bad? He quoted me $2600 for the job. I'm not crazy about the cost but if it fixes the problem, I'll do it. I just want to find out if anyone else had a similar problem.

Thanks for your help,
Dan

8 genuine GM injectors for your car is $552 on Rock Auto.
A fuel pump is $35. Seems like the injectors would be relatively easy to replace. I don't know what all is involved with replacing the fuel pump.

Really? You didn't look up parts prices?

I had a similar issue with my 91 with about 45-50,000 miles on it 10-15 yrs ago. had the all injectors replaced, not all of them were bad but went ahead and replaced them all. Been running great ever since. Have about 80,000 miles on it now. Don’t really remember the cost but was around $700? Parts and labor.

SOLD - "The Toy" - '70 Convertible
SOLD - "The Beast" - '90 ZR-1 (#682)
SOLD - "Betty" - '28 Ford Model A Tudor
SOLD - "BLKBRRD" - '78 Pontiac Trans Am
"BLUBYU" - '04 Coupe

The injectors of that era would fail because the gas of today will destroy the innards of the injector. It wasn't a matter of "if" they would fail but more a matter of "when". Kinda surprised you got so many miles before the failure began to happen. Shortly after buying "The Beast" a miss started happening and it was determined to be a bad #1 cylinder injector. I replaced all 16 of the injectors and didn't have a problem after that.

Also sorry, no idea on replacing the fuel pump. A basic Chiltons or Haynes repair manual may outline it but a Chevrolet Corvette Repair manual should give step-by-step instructions. I bought manuals for "The Beast" on "FleaBay".

Good luck...!!!
