My speakers have a loud hum when I first turn on the radio. How do I correct this issue.

Does it go away after a while, or is it always there?

It could be bad ignition wires.

It could be a loose ground.

I found on my 1992 that the BOSE amps capacitors were the cause of the hum. If you go to EBay there is a company I believe out of Florida that fixes them for around $50 each. I was able to repair my own.

Thanks. Can you replace the speakers with ones that don’t require the amps.

I was given this list a couple of years ago and it’s been very helpful. It’s all about the hunt. Have fun!!

Amplifier is toast. Replaced all 4 in my 93. Common problem there is a guy in FL that repairs them a little pricey but done right. He’s actually on YouTube. Each speaker has an amplifier “great job Bose”. Radio was also rebuilt due to CD problems

Vette(s): 1986 Convertable, Indy pace car. Red with black top, automatic. Bought from Goodwill without keys! Running now after replacing ignition and finding correct VATS.

Here is another good source for ALL Corvette (1984 -2010) parts.

Coastal Corvette

I was there today and he has LOTS of speakers ready to purchase.

Going back tomorrow for more items!

Great place.  He has multiple warehouses full of parts.

I found that place about five years ago by chance. Saw a couple of C4’s in the yard, the next day I went to see what John had. You’re right you can spend hours in there. He is very cordial and knowledgeable. He’s also on eBay. Have fun!

Vette(s): My first Corvette was a used 1974 Coupe purchased in the summer of 1975. I drove the wheels off of this Vette. Currently own a 1967 Coupe and a 1992 Coupe.

The correct website for Coastal Corvette, Inc. is www.coastalcorvette.com.
