Ok why do I stay with the C4 over say a C5 or C6?

The C5 has a lot of issues.  The rocking seats, bad oil sending
units, bad gas gauges, leaky rear axles and dreaded column lock.

The C6 has problems with the remote start, key fob problems,
rocking seats, auto door opening problems, and noisy targa tops.

Yes the C4 basically only has the opt-spark. So the C4 seems
more durable and plus it looks way better.Smile

grandma would love the rocking seatsRolling On The Floor Laughing. i think every generation had their quirks when first changed. surprised they didn't fix the seat issue in the c6. it seems everytime they get most of the bugs fixed they change generations and start all over again. my personal preference is c2, c3, c4. i own 2 out of the three and very hard to say one is better than the other.

Most of the "problems" of the earlier gens have been fixed by now. In 10 years, all of the "problems" with the C5s will have been fixed....
I personally prefer my Shark car over the C4, as far as driving. Yeah, the C4 gets waaaaay better mileage, and it will most likely outrun the Shark in the end, but....the '74 just fits me better. Mama prefers the C4. So....we're both happy!
I would never buy a C5 at all, for any reason. Just don't like them. I've driven many different ones, and they just don't "fit" me very well. I've also worked on a ton of C5s....most of them have been driven into the ground, so no matter what you do, you still wind up with a worn out car.

The above is the opinion of the poster....

Gotta keep the C4 until I can save enough for a new ZR-1.

THIS IS MERELY MY OPINION:

c4master, I am not a wealthy man and I do not like car payments, so I don't have to make decisions like which generation to "stay with". I cannot afford the luxury of owning multiple generations! I assume you own one of each? THAT must be nice!

My take is that I am an old, tired, fat cop who wants one for collectibility and enjoyment. It is an investment (ask my wife). I would rather own a beautiful, restored collectible Corvette that a "good used car". Unless it's a rare special edition, that's what they are to ME. Now.....if you're thinning your collection, post some pics. Maybe someone here will buy one.

THIS WAS MY OPINION. PLEASE DO NOT SUE ME. I HAVE NOTHING. I AM WORTHLESS. LOL

I'm keeping my C4 until GM builds and I can afford the new concept vette unveiled this week at the Philadelphia Auto Show...   What a car.. I really hope they build it.  As soon as I figure out how to download pictures from my phone to here I will do it.   As far as C4's are concerned, in my humble opinion(IMHO going forward) the C4 has been the best design to date..

I hear widely differing opinions on the C4.  During the "cash for clunkers" where they actually destroyed some decent early C4s, some people said they were ugly.  I disagree strongly.  My '86 coupe has styling that I think is much better than either the C5 or C6.  I bought my '86 new and I enjoy it more each year.  Sure there have been a few problems such as the alternator, starter, and ECM but nothing I consider major considering it has close to 90K miles and is 24 years old.

Every generation has it's "issues".  Most vette owners have a gut reaction to what gen turns them on, much like woman, so ya gotta respect their choice.  So I don't bash anyone's gen, hey it's a vette and we all have to deal with the quirks that are built into the experience of owning one.  There isn't any vette I would turn down, but I might not have the passion I have for the C4.   Love the corkpit, clamshell...hate #8 plug Censored, changing wires and the dana 36.

But I gotta admit, a new GS 'vert in torch red, with whatever issues it may have, really makes me think about cheating on my carRolling On The Floor Laughing.

Im not bashing any year vettes, but the facts are the facts.
Over-all the C4 seems to have less issues than a C5 or C6.
Long Live the C4!!!!!!!!
