Vette(s): Used to own a 1979 Corvette now owned by JB79

What is your first memory of seeing a Corvette?

Bonus question: Is this what caused you to want to own one?

Vette(s): 1972 conv, 4-speed, 350, 200hp, numbers match, rally wheels, war bonnett yellow w/white top. good condition, nice driver.

An upper classmate had a 66 427 Burgundy coupe. If anyone rode with him, he would lay a $100.00 dollar bill on the dash. If you could get it you could have it. Of course no one did. The hook was set, and the C4 came MANY years later.

SOLD - "The Toy" - '70 Convertible
SOLD - "The Beast" - '90 ZR-1 (#682)
SOLD - "Betty" - '28 Ford Model A Tudor
SOLD - "BLKBRRD" - '78 Pontiac Trans Am
"BLUBYU" - '04 Coupe

I honestly can't remember when I first saw a Corvette.  I do remember my first ride in one tho'.  I was 14 and it was in a brand spanking new '66 BIG block convertible with side pipes and a 4 speed.  I was hooked...!!!

Before that was the TV show Route 66 which starred a Corvette convertible (MYs '60 thru '64).  C1 and C2 years were outside my budget when looking for a fun car but the C3 years fit the budget better resulting in "The Toy" ending up in the garage.

Attending a local Corvette show was the first time I had seen a ZR-1 in person.  Wasn't a real fan of the C4s until then.  A few years later saw a ZR-1 advertised in the paper at a local car dealership.  Went and looked at it, drove it, and after several sleepless night bought it.  Wish "The Beast" was still in the garage.

"The Toys"...!!!  Save the Wave!

Where I've been in a Corvette...!!!

July 1963. My father took us to Chevrolet Motor Sales in downtown Montreal where he bought a Chevrolet Impala station wagon, black with a red interior, 283 cu in V-8 and Powerglide. On the showroom floor was a '63 Vette, red on red, 4 speed, full wheel covers. The salesman let me sit in it, (I was 7 years old) and I was immediately taken with Vettes. My red Radio Flyer wagon became my Vette, my bicycle became my Vette, my Corvette Dinky toy became the most valued toy. Still that little kid!

Vette(s): Bought my Vette!👍😎

When I was kid in Michigan a friend of our parents had the orange color '78 Vette with the t-tops.  Took me for a fast ride and fell in love with the Vette.

Vette(s): 1991 Coupe

In 1958 I was four yrs old. One day on the way to my Grandparents house I saw a red car with black inserts (coves) and I begged dad to stop and go back just so I could look at the car. Reluctantly he did. Theowner was out with the car and dad asked if he minded if I got out and looked at the car.The owner gave me a very good look at the car, let me sit behind the steering wheel, which seemed gigantic to my miniature self. Dad (who was not a car guy) was talking to him about the car. A few years later I was still talking about that car and Dad told me all about what the owner said. About all I remember from that day was it was red with black coves and black interior. Dad filled in some of the details, it was a 58 Corvette, 4 speed, originally the car was not  a two tone car and he had the coves painted black. Later found out 58 was the last of the Harley Earl era. I have always wanted a 58 but the cost was and still is too far out of my price range. So now my dream is just a fantasy, but I can live with that.

Vette(s): 1995 Std Coupe Dark Purple Metallic Auto Trans Z07 Suspension Just under 23K miles (7.7.13)

1953!  What a great year to be an 11-year-old motor-head; I had seen the car on tv and in the car magazines, and just could not wait to encounter a "real" one;  later that year, I did see a real car on the street and just knew that someday I would need to have on of those.  Well the reality of life set in and a marriage, and a mortgage, and two wonderful kids, and college for two - well you get the idea.  And then one day (58 years later) my 1995 Corvette showed up at a local "Corvettes only" dealer, and my dream was finally realized:  a Dark Purple Metallic coupe with nearly every available option, including the Z07 package, and when I bought it 11 years ago, it had under 17,000 miles on the odometer.

So, I didn't get my '53 Corvette, but this one will certainly "do".
