Vette(s): 1996 Collectors Edition LT-4 6-speed
Gentlemen, just acquired my first 'vette. After a long hard search I found it a '96 Collectors Edition LT-4, 6-speed with 5200 miles. The car came from GA and now resides in MT. My question, among others sure to come, I don't have maintenance records on the vehicle so wondering if I should have all fluids replaced just to make sure the are ok. The oil looks fresh, all other levels up up to where they should be. Any suggestions from you much more knowledgeable types? Thanks much.....

Hey there newbie is mileage 52K. Or 52 hundred , doesn't really matter to me here's my point. All auto fluids obtain condensation over time . So if it's 52 hundred miles , then car has sat a lot and most likely has some water in it . I got my 93' C4 2yrs and over first winter did all my fluids , just to know what I had . Good luck

PoloGreen, that would be 5,200 miles. I appreciate the advise, makes good sense. I am trying to contact the seller through his "broker" to find out all the particulars. Regardless the moisture accumulation things sounds important. Maybe even more so with the car coming from a warm and humid climate to a more dry and colder one. Thanks again!

Hey, thanks and I hope to have some fun! I really searched long and hard for quite a few months. I actually found another one here in MT with 6,500 miles, 96 Collectors LT1 automatic....super clean one owner! I opted for the LT4 manual, a bit more $ but I am pleased. Thanks againTongue

I'd change every drop of every fluid just as a starting point for my own personal reference.
Including and especially the brake fluid.
Its cheap insurance, and a starting point for my ownership maintenance records.

And look at it like this, even if they did freshen up the fluids before you got it, did they use quality material?
