I have owned my 94 LT1 coupe for just over a year and it has run beautifully, until yesterday.
After starting up almost instantly, as per usual, after a short 3 mile trip and being off for about one hour, the starter needed about 10 seconds to get the engine turned over. The "service engine" light came on and stayed on. It was nearly out of gas (almost on Reserve) so I stopped at Shell and put in about 3/4 tank of 93 octane, without shutting off the engine. It ran about 1/2 mile, stuttered and shut down completely. Just before it stopped I read all the gauges and everything read normal. The electronic readouts, power windows and starter ran just fine but the engine would not turn over.
Could it be something in the fuel delivery system?? What are the symptoms of a clogged fuel filter or a fuel pump gone bad???
Am I on the right track???? HELP!!!!

I'd try some starting fluid in the throttle body to see if it starts and runs for a few seconds. This should confirm the ignition system is ok and you have a fuel delivery problem if the engine runs with starter fluid or throttle body cleaner. You'll need a fuel pressure gauge to check fuel pressure when you turn on the ign switch, you should also hear the fuel pump run for a couple seconds each time you cycle the the switch on/off. Unsure of the pressure specs on yours, but 40ish should start the engine. If you don't have a gauge ( a gauge is the best way)  you can push in the schraeder valve at the fuel rail and you should have fuel squirt out after cycling the ign. switch. From your description it sounds like the fuel pump MAY have gone belly up, if it has it's a fairly easy fix.

Ya...I think I'd start with a pressure reading, too...
The ignition module can also cause this same scenario, but I'd start with checking fuel pressure, and go from there.

YOU HAVE THE CLASSIC SIGNS OF A BAD FUEL PUMP.  ONE GOOD THING IS THAT YOU DO NOT HAVE TO DROP THE TANK ON A C4.  THE ENTIRE SENDING UNIT COMES OUT THRU THE GAS DOOR.  I WOULD RECOMMEND REPLACING THE ENTIRE UNIT WHEN YOU DO THE JOB, ALONG WITH THE FUEL FILTER.  YOU CAN ALSO TRY HITTING THE BOTTOM OF THE TANK WITH A SHORT 2x4 OR A RUBBER MALLET WHILE SOMEONE TRIES TO START THE CAR.  IF IT STARTS YOU NOW CONFIRMED YOUR PUMP HAS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM AND WILL NEED REPLACED.    WHEN YOU MAKE THE REPAIR MAKE SURE THAT YOU KEEP THE FUEL LEVEL ABOVE 1/2 TANK .  THE FUEL IN THE TANK KEEPS THE FUEL PUMP COOL WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING THE CAR.  IT ALSO KEEPS THE  DIRT PARTICLES  SUSPENDED IN THE FUEL AND NOT CONCENTRATED AT THE FUEL INLET, WHICH CAN CLOG THE FUEL INLET TO THE FUEL PUMP AND OVERHEAT THE PUMP AND CAUSE IT TO FAIL.   GOOD LUCK WITH THE REPAIR.

these guy's have it figured out but from here forward and this is just something I picked up being a machanic you should shut off your car when you refuel. the reason for that is with the evap systems they have it may and I say may send fuel through the wrong tube and vaporlock the system and cause problems. and allways be sure not too overfill the tank can do it too. depending on you. I have installed an a piller set of gauges in my 85 vette with a fuel pressure gauge and air fuel mixture gauge. just because I have many many miles on her. good luck and may your repair be easy

i am a little confused here. as i read the post it says that it won't even turn over. is it cranking and wont start or is there nothing when you turn the key. i always took the term wont turn over as it wasn't cranking. if it is cranking ten i would agree that it is the fuel pump.
