Hey Everyone,
I'd like to get rid of those old heavy stock heads and install some aluminum heads, not only for the performance but because there's a valve seal leak, which would need replacing anyway. Does anyone have suggestions for heads or does anyone have a pair they don't want anymore?
I'd also like to get new headers, I'm thinking longtube, maybe Hookers. Someone put in Borla exhausts on my '87 C4. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks so much,
Cbarison

Unless your '87 is a really early build, it should already have aluminuminum heads on it...unless someone swapped them before. The original alum. heads were pretty decent to begin with.

Really! So does it make more sense to get new headers than heads? After that work on getting more air into the engine?

You say "new" headers...does that mean you have headers on it now? There are pros/cons for every type of header out there....it really comes down to personal preference, and what your main intentions are with the car...drag racing, autocross, daily driving, what have you.
Personally, I think the original alum. heads are fine for a mild upgrades to an otherwise stock engine. If you start putting a bigger cam, changing the intake, etc., then you might wanna try some different heads.
There are several folks here that have C4 cars with headers...hopefully one or more will chime in soon.

These are the headers I installed on my 88. They are ceramic coated and fit well. Installation wasn't difficult and believe me it can be a b_tch to install headers in the tight engine bay of a C4.

Hey Steve,
Great looking headers! Did they lose that shiny look? Any issues with installation?

Both of my cars have cermaic coated headers The red car has Headman & The Black car has Hooker long tube that I found on the clearance rack at summit racing for $300. I had to pick them up at that price
The Headman headers did NOT have a bung for the O2 sensor
installation is a breeze untill you get to the bracketry for your A/C & alt. rear mounts so do not pitch the old bolts away I used steel tubing to make up the difference
Heads I have used AFR-Eldebrock and Trickflow, If I were in the market for a new set of aftermarket heads I would buy Trickflow with out a doubt There awsome You can FEEL the increase in power not so much for the others & yes you pay for it about 1250 a set then rocker arms & push rods, cam timming chain dont skimp these are not something you want to try and save money on
