Corvette critics

My thought is who gives a rats butt what the critics say.  I own a C4 because I like it.

Well said, I agree with you completely.  I drive a C4 because I like it.  If those blind critics don't think a C4 is worth anything it's their loss.  My Baby turns still heads!

rita, are you sure their heads are turning looking at your vette or at you. everyone has their preferences. as i said my ultimate vette would be a 63-67. dont ever think that will change. as the new generations came out, i stood firm that i didn't like them. guess what? they grew on me and now i have 2 different generations.
 i love both of them and both will have people hanging out windows, drooling. c4s are in the middle and like kids, kind of felt like they are not being paid attention too but in reality they are probably getting as much if not more. in my normal driving, i pass corvettes and of course give the wave (no matter what generation) and most of them are c4s.

Okay, so maybe it's me in my Corvette they are looking at! 
I was seriously considering trading up to an 07 but in trying to determine the value of my C4 I used the Corvette VIN decoded under the research tool and saw it calls my Vette rare.  Apparently there were only 2 with the exact options/colors as mine.  Don't know how actuate this is but it did make me think twice about moving up a few generations.  Then it was pointed out to me that most of the members of my Corvette group drive C4s.  There are a few newer and some older, but more C4s I'm told.  Besides, I really do like the body of the C4 best.  The newer ones look like they have been kicked in the hind-end!

understand about the rear of the newer vettes. besides that they took away one of the signature trademarks of the corvette, the hidden headlights. IMO,,everyone use to try and copy the corvette but now it seems the corvette is trying to copy everyone else.  just dont do anything on the spur of the moment. i know i would be happier in a c4 instead of a newer one.

I'm not one to purchase anything on the spur of the moment; I'm a shopper!  I researched, selected the model I wanted, looked at my finances and then went shopping.  Found my Baby at a corner type car lot; took the salesman on a white nuckle test drive.  Whined about the condition of the tires until they offered to put a set of Falken Zier 912's on it if I'd buy it.  Then since I had pre-approved financing they had to come down on the price!  Don't mess with a woman after a Corvette!  I'll most likely stay with the one I have.

For the money these are great cars.  16-20+ years old, low milage, V-8 grunt and an american classic marque.  All at  price that still allows you to send the kids to a decent college!  What's not to like?

I know this is an older thread, but it was just what I was looking for to vent......(in a good way) 

It seems that values on C4s (especially early ones) have remained fairly low over the last decade.  Of course GM built so many of them that they are not considered rare or collectable yet like the early Corvettes.  I may live long enought to see my original owner '86 Coupe go up in value but with 85K on the odometer, it may take awhile.
