Hello:

 

I do not know how many Vietnam Veterans are in your Corvette Club.

There is a fellow Corvetter / Veteran in Lexington, N. C. that developed a Vietnam Veteran / Corvette sew on Patch.

 

I have attached a photo of this.

 

He provides this patch to Vietnam Veterans FREE of charge and he does not ask for compensation.

 

I met with him at Corvettes @ Carlisle to pick up my patches.

 

I thought how nice it would be if Vietnam Veterans could display this on their Corvettes showing their service to this country.

 

I discussed and received permission from him that I could have static clings made in honor and memory of our Vietnam Veterans.

 

These static clings are 3" round and go inside of your car window.

 

Should any of your club Vietnam Veterans like any static clings, please have them send me a self addressed/postage paid envelope and I will be glad to provide them. Please provide a note letting me know how many static clings they would like.

 

Should any of your club Vietnam Veterans like any sew on patches they only need to e-mail Charles at Charlie@carols62.com

 

Tell him how many sew on patches they would like and give him their mailing address.

 

 

THEY BOTH ARE FREE

I was drafted in 1969 but was never sent over. Had to spend all my service time stateside. Do I qualify? In South Dakota I am considered a Vietnam Era Veteran as you can see by the cap in my picture that the governor gave us.

I am a proud Vietnam Vet and have had the window sticker on my 95 coupe for almost a year. I have had a lot of positive comments and am very proud to display it.

I would like to say this may sound stupid here to some but it's just the way I feel:
 
I just wanted to say "THANK YOU" so much to all the vets out there for giving me my freedom and to live in a country as great as I do.
 I wanted and tried multiple times to join in '67 but they would not take me at the time and (Classified me 1-Y).
I lost many HS friends in Vietnam and had and have to live with this feeling that I didn't go and to this day It still haunts me that I didn't do my part. 
I live in a small town and try to do all I can for the Vets here.
I also still do wear a POW/MIA bracelet for the past thirty years for a man I think I owe my life to since he never made it back or has been found (Maj William O. Fuller USAF 26 AUG 67 NVN) and will continue to do so until he's found and he's returned 
Thanks in advance for spilling out a bit but again this means so much to me.

Vette(s): Purchased a 1986 Convert August 2013, Bright Red color with a black top, it'd already received a Tremec 5 speed upgrade along with a disc upgrade prior to purchase.

Drafted also because I was too underweight to volunteer (go figure).  I didn't make it to RVN because of multiple messed up levy's, though they sure tried.  I'm also considered a Viet Nam Era Vet though I was not in country.  So does that qualify me?


Definitely thank a serviceman or woman when you see them for your service.

It appears that the two medals depicted on the patch are medals awarded to those that actually were in Vietnam. So it would appear that just being a Vietnam Era vet would not qualify us to display it.

As far as I can remember you had to be what government  called the "Theatre of Operation" during the Vietnam war time frame. That involved Thailand and several other Southeast Asian countries that we were not allowed in at that time (sure) or you were  "in country" which meant the country of Vietnam. If you were awarded the 2 ribbons on the decal, which would be listed on your DD Form 214 (discharge) you are eligible.  Hope this helps. Any other Vets care to add anything here?

I am a Persian Gulf Vet, my wife also served during the same time. Although she can claim the status because her Squadron did some tours there, she doesn't  because she didn't physically go.
I have the Persian Gulf plate, but she has the Navy Veteran plate. Hers looks way cooler as it has the Navy seal, mine just has words.

My uncle has Korean Veteran plates even though he never left the states. I guess it is how you view it as serving in the theater or just during the era.
