Thinking about replacing my original wheels that lost their original shine.  I was looking at chrome American Racing wheels that I can order from Town Fair Tires at a total cost including a front end alignment for 980 dollars this includes chrome nuts, center cap, installation and balancing. Has anyone purchased American Racing and what do you think of quality? Thanks for your time. I have a 1988 Convertible. Can you chrome original wheels?

American racing wheels that I've seen are high quality.
I bought some items from a C4 owner who also had a set of 17" American racing wheels for sale.  He had used them for only about a year, and I liked them, but wasn't in the market.  Here's a picture.  I think they look pretty elegant and tasteful.
He might still have them.
EDIT: picture didn't load.  I'll try later to edit this post and get the picture in.

The pictures in the above post are the wheels that a Craigslist seller had for sale about a year ago in Aberdeen MD.  If you don't mind a long drive, he'd probably sell them (in great condition) for $400 for the set.  No tires.

Craiglist is a PIA sometimes, but I've found some great Corvette parts there.

Good luck

Thanks they look good but at this point it would be too far to drive.  I still am deciding if I want to invest 1000 bucks on new wheels.  I can get a set of American Racing classics chrome mounted, balanced and front end alignment, center piece, and lug nuts for 1000, which is a good price? I know as soon as I drop the money something will most likely go wrong with the car. Love the damn thing but she likes attention just like all women, but she is worth it.  Take care and drive safe.

ARE wheels are available in a wide variety of styles and sizes.   They are a high quality wheel.   And yes, your original factory wheels can be chrome plated.   They can also be polished to return them to a better-than-new look!   If you decide to plate your original wheels, be sure to get a triple plate (copper-nickel-chrome) for durability!
