Got excited today and started the '91 in preparation for all the salt to be washed away off the roads here in Buffalo. Started fine but the Alternator light ( Battery Light ) stayed on and the Ammeter gage showed no charging when I revved the engine.
Does anyone have any ideas, cannot find any mention of a fuse in the charging system . My C4 has only done 24000 miles, so alternator failure seems doubtful to me.

Check the electrical connections on the alt itself first. Sometimes just sitting can cause corrosion to form. Could also have some varmit damage.

Thankyou Adam, I'll give that a look.
I am guessing that I should disconnect the earth wire to the battery before laying a spanner on the alternator.
Haven't seen any evidence of critters, the garage is very secure.
