I will disagree with the above....as an NCRS member (National Corvette Restorers Society) I have witnessed and judged Corvettes for Top-Flight Certification. The vehicle is judged on how it was presented as it left the assembly line. A "Top-Flight" ribbon and certification holds MUCH more merit and value than just about any "shine & show" trophy...believe me you have a special car there and it is yours to do as you please, but if it were mine I would leave it bone stock...go to E-Bay motors and search corvettes if you think I am not truthful....all the "high value" cars that have some age to them (c4's-c1's) are the vehicles that are either restored to original or have "survivor" status. If that is what interests you Google NCRS , and search out a local affiliate in your area (or as close as can be) also the national NCRS website has loads of info on your collectable vehicle as well as the history and much more. FYI my C4 is an original 1988 with only 24,000 on it. I would LOVE to find an original set of Goodyear tires that were not dry-rot for MY upcoming Top-Flight judging. Other than the afore mentioned tires the only non-stock item is the battery.....if you have any questions feel free to PM me. Again GREAT vehicle, enjoy it!

I beleive you to be correct if you plan to show the car.I am going to show it, so I will take your advice. It's a lt4 all factory stock with 10,450 miles on it. With the exact specs from factory there were only 143 made, so I think it's a special car. It's not about what it's worth now, but it's a sound investment to me that it's rare car. Thanks for advice, I needed to here what you said.

I am a member of NCRS, but my C4 will never be judged. If it was it wouldn’t get much of a score. It isn’t stock, and I like it that way. It has a modified exhaust, Magnaflows with polished stainless steel tips! The car sounds absolutely great pulling through 4000 RPM. I really like that sound. I hear is as often as I can manage.
The carpet has been replaced with a slightly lighter than stock beige that looks much better than the stock, matches the beige trim much better than stock.
I’ve changed the headlamps and now I can actually see the road at night. The stock headlamps on the C4 pretty well suck. And yes, I drive it at night, I drive it in the rain, and I drive it fast around corners whenever I get the chance.
I have a really great touch screen CD/MP3/DVD/Nav/Bluetooth audio system with a 240 watt amp, and some really nice speakers. It beats the old Delco in every way.
Does changing the car hurt the value? Maybe, maybe not. A top flight rating on your C4 or a nicely done Resto Mod doesn’t necessarily make it any more valuable, it is only as valuable as what someone else will pay for it. All of the things I have done to my C4 makes it more valuable to me and pleases me. That’s what counts.
If you want to do the restoration and have your car judged, go for it! I love looking at these beautifully restored cars. I even enjoy watching a team of judges arguing if the sticker on the inside of the glove box door should be one inch or two inches from the edge of the door.
Just enjoy your Corvette!
They are great cars, no matter what you do with them.
