gental men and ladys , i was watching the mecum auction yesterday. and saw a 84 vette go across the block . it had 11,000 miles and it was red on red, sold for 22,000.00 also reading the nrca driveline magaine there was a 84 vette in the for sale add going for 20,000.00 red on red it was sold when i called about it.also on e bay a 84 vette sold for 18,000.00 just this week end to, it was black with tan interior. it only had 2,000.00 miles on it. it makes me wonder if the 84 is on its way up in value. its a one year only. i also seen a lot of other newer c4s selling for above prices . perhaps the c4 is making a come back...in the colector world .

It would be nice to have our '84's recognized in the financial world of cars. I know newer cars have more power and all, but I still like mine!

I'd be happy to see all C4s stay unappreciated. It makes them cheaper and easier for us to get and enjoy!

Jonney, I watch the Mecum auction quite a bit and the guys hosting keep saying the C4 is the best buy right now and will start gaining proper attention soon. I do a little searching from time to time to see what the current values are and found there's big peaks and valleys in the pricing. In my area the good solid drivers are $8500 to $9700. That's something that has a good interior, paint, runs reliably and mileage around 60-80k. The next price level is in the mid teens. $14-16k. Usually the '92 to '95s are going for that. Other than that the prices swing from downrite cheap at $3995 ('85 w/110k) to $27,500 ('85 w/5k). I recently had to get a new front spring for mine and got it from a used parts dealer in Florida. He's seen much more business in replacement C4 parts over the last year or so. His opinion was because the C4s are a great buy now more folks are snapping them up and reconditioning them. Like us.
I brought my '87 to a show in early summer. It'a a big one for our town and there were 10 C4's there. Not bad since the show is more geared for wild cutoms and street rods. That was more than any other body style. Not bad at all.

Maybe it's imagination but I get more C4 owners in fun conversations about Vettes. All in all though, I've enjoyed meeting a lot of great folks who appreciate ANY Corvette.

I can't tell you all how many times this subject has come up in conversations with other 'vette owners.
It really boils down to what it's worth to "YOU"

I keep any eye on the values of C4's from time to time as well. They've taken a slight drop all across the the generation during these rough economic times. I don't see it as such a horrible thing as everything has been effected by the recession and everything eventually bounces back.....
It would be great to see my '84 appreciate, and I agree that being a new generation car with design and production problems, coupled with EPA & CAFE regulations of that time turned that year into the "red headed stepchild" of an American legend, but I look at my 'vette as a good investment all the way around

Remember, there's no place like ~ ;)
