Do you mean the Z51 package? The Z51's for one had larger brakes. My '84 has puny brakes compared to my son's '88 Z51. They also had different shocks, I believe. The springs on the '84s is the same as the Z51 package.

yes, i just was woundering how you know. i looked at an other 84 the brake rotors looked smaller than mine. also i seen an oil cooler that ran off the oil filter placement. it had hoses that ran through the cooling system. the oil cooler looked kinda flat like a pancake. weard... the person who owned this 84 wasn't around to talk to. it was in a dealer on a lift getting an oil change. i wounder if the oil cooler was an aftermarket piece.

I have the Z51 package on my ride and an external oil cooler wasn't part of that package. In fact, I don't think they ever offered an external oil cooler.
Remember, there's no place like ~ ;)

The KC4 option included an engine oil cooler, plumbed thru the radiator. The adapter for it was installed above the oil filter, and the filter screwed into that.
The VO1/VO8 heavy duty cooling system option also included the KC4, if memory serves.

Yeah, they had an oil cooler that ran thru an adapter between the oil filter and block. In fact, I think I still have one of the old adapters (They were also used on 9C1 Caprice Cop cars.)
