Vette(s): 1996 collectors edition lt4 convertible 10,000 miles, silver exterior, black interior. purchased 4/20/12

The winter regionals were held at Old Town Kissimmee,FL last weekend. All the C4's scored TOP FLIGHT award. My car scored 1398 out of 1450 points.Great event great judges. All the negitive I read was not true at this event. 10 points battery,a few for oil filter and the rest were little fixable things. Next is the PV for me ,now that's harder.

My '86 coupe scored a Top Flight at a Regional NCRS meet in Rochester, MN a few years ago.  It was interesting that the judges found some non original detail items that I was docked for.  I stated that I had bought the Corvette new and had not changed those items.  I won a few more points but not all.
I can tell you from experience that getting a top flight on a C4 or newer is a whole lot easier than getting a top flight on a C1.

"Top Flight" is a copyrighted trademark of NCRS, so that's the only organization you can get a Top Flight from, but NCRS doesn't currently judge Corvettes newer than 1996 C4's. So one cannot receive a Top Flight for a Corvette "newer" than a C4.

I stand corrected, Dave.  I guess I was thinking C4s newer than my '86.  The point of my comment still stands.  Getting a Top Flight on a C1 takes a lot more effort than for a C4 in my opinion.

This is true. The older the car the less things work and the more aftermarket parts are used. C1/C2 most likely have been  restored and it depends on the restorers credability. But a 94% will still give a Topflight award. The performance verification (PV) award is much harder to achieve for any year because it's a pass/fail system with a 10 mile driving. If your car has failed something you are given 15 min. to fix the problem. I have a friend with a'66 that failed because the radio antenna went up in 5 sections but the last section stopped short one inch from the top. So if you go on in NCRS the harder it gets. My car is going for (PV) next Jan 2014. I have a few things to fix first. I have a '96 CE and scored 98.6% Topflight so it should not be as bad as a C1/C2. But the work is very rewarding in the end to know you have a very special vette and not every vette on the road can achieve this.

Passing the PV on late C4 is pretty hard, too....LOTS of electronic stuff to not work correctly at that particular instant....Angry

Joel, Very true. I will check, double check and cross my fingers. Let me ask you a question. Does your seat bladders (not lumbar) totally fill up your seat portion, or do you feel the bladder on the front part of the seat. This is a issue I have to address. My ps seat failed, but my ds didn't, and they feel the same. Both seat lumbars fill up fine it's just the seat portion that doesn't.

That I do not know...my car doesn't have the sport seats. Maybe davep85c4 could answer that one, since he was part of the group that did the Judging Guide.
