Can some one tell me if Chevrolet built a C4 convertible in 1985?
Here is my VIN 1G1YY0783F5109600
The tag on the dash, door and frame rail are of the same.
Carfax has it as a coupe and the title says 2 door.
I have been searching here and the internet and haven't come up with anything concrete.
thank you!

You seem to have a VERY SPECIAL Corvette there, the VIN YY0 seems to be totally unusual, where as the YY2 would be a hardtop/targa and YY3 would be the convertible... My understanding was that the convertible was not re-introduced until the 1986 model year (G as the last letter in the VIN) whereas your shows as a 1985 model... hmmmmm

I'm certain there were C4 convertibles built in '85, but the C4 convertible wasn't released for public sale until the mid-late '86 production.
Your VIN shows to be the 9600th car built in '85. Don't know if it was a proto car that somehow got out the door, or if something else is goin on...

Doing a little more research on the internet I discovered a "Greenwood" 1985 Corvette, has a VIN like yours, and they say about 60 or so were made into convertibles by Greenwood in 1985...

Corvette Black Book has VIN run as 1G1YY0787F5100001 thru 1G1YY0787F5139729. Ninth digit was security code and varies. No convertible listed, total production was 39,729 coupes.

1986 has 7,315 convertibles listed and adds that drop tops were introduced as first since 1975. All 1986 convertibles were sold and designated as pace car replica's regardless of color or option content and all included decal package.
I'd call the NCM and ask them to research it and order a build sheet. And what does your title say...1985?
