Something that a later L98 does offer up is roller lifters. A minor HP gain. Maybe 5-10 more. I myself? If I really needed to rebuild the powerplant I might go the 383 route with a higher flowing TPI. The low end grunt is pretty addictive.

The throttle bodies on the Crossfire were originally Cadillac units....not Chevette. Wink
The Crossfires can be a handful to properly tune/diagnose, but the basic engine was, and still is a good foundation. It's the intake manifold that kills it, plain and simple. A decent intake that won't cover up half of the intake ports in the heads would wake the engine right up....but then the hood wouldn't close....Ouch

Adam I have the corvette fuel injection book from the engineer that did alot of the Corvette stuff and that is what he said in the book that the throttle bodies were from chevette. So I wasnt just saying that to be saying that.

Hmmm, I've had three crossfires in the past including my current one. My '82 ran really well, but was well, kind of a dog. It became master's degree tuition. My first'84 (bought new) ran extremely well until I sold it at 101k to buy a house. My current one with 59k is also an excellent runner, but I would like just a little more oomph. The idea of the larger Edelbrock TB's is intriguing...I will have to look into it! I love C4's!!
