When rolling on from a complete stop I get a LOUD knocking noise comming from the front of the vehicle. At first I thought it was the intake popping from a vacuum leak, but on closer inspection it seems more chassi/wheel related. Would a BAD wheel brg. duplicate this? It goes away as the speed increases. Anybody? Beuller?

I'm sure someone more qualified than I am will chime in eventually, but if I remember correctly a bad wheel bearing will make a "roaring" sound that changes with speed.  If you're hearing a pop sound when you get on the gas I would think suspension.  Maybe a bushing, something with a shock absorber or a ball joint.

Check your harmonic balancer, and see if it has slipped on the hub. If it does, it can either hit on the timing cover, or it can go the other way, and hit on the steering rack.

Could certainly be a suspension noise, too. It is a constant knock, or does it just knock a couple of times and stop?

Thanks, guys. It only pops  up to about six times on hard accelleration then goes away. Possibly a MOTOR MOUNT broke? How can I check to see if the harmonic balancer has moved?

Cool i think it's a motor mount.  if the balencer moved would it make a bad vibration in the car..yep i have to say a broken motor mount. on the drivers side....if its broken i would replace bouth of them.... just my opinion......

 Big smile
