Thursday was a nice day so we took a nice ride to Ct. Car was running great we decided to take the back mountain roads home stopped to get gas.  Turned the key nothing no click not a sound. I thought it might be the battery but I checked it prior to ride and it was fine. I saw this young man in a pick up and asked him if he had jumper cables and he did we tried to jump it nothing.  He said "I built a couple of hot rods and I bet the starter has dirt accumulated on it" he took a breaker bar and gently hit the starter I turned the key and it fired up.  He went on to say he liked corvetts and some day he would buy one. I gave him 50 dollars and was happy as hell, he did not want to take the money but I insisted we lucked out to find a nice young man who had mechanical knowledge. ( the toe home would have cost a hell of lot more)

I will carry a breaker bar and if this happens again I will then have the starter replaced.  I feel that it may be a larger issue than just a dirty starter it may be a faulty relay at which some day will totally go bad.  I wanted to reference the tapping process for owners who may not know of this trick if you find yourselves in this situation.

Take care drive safely.   We have a major snow storm coming this sucks!!!!
