Car has 170k and origninal trans mount. I autoX it and just recently after a 12 run session driving it as my daily driver I noticed that when I gun it, the shifter handle rasise approx 1/2 to an inch. anyone experience this before, thinking Trans mount.
p.s. How hard is it to replace Trans mount in a 96 with a ZF40 trans? Going under her dress this weekend....
Thanks!
Doug

No trans mounts per se on the C4 cars. The rear of the trans is attached to the "C" beam that runs back to the differential. If the shifter is moving that much, you definitely need to get under there and have look. Assuming there are no strange noises, engine mounts might be all you need. I have seen the two large bolts that hold the C beam to the trans loosen, and even fall completely out. For safety's sake, it needs to be checked before hammering it on a course.

Amen to that AA. I'd be very afraid. If that ladder drops and digs into the pavement, serious damage will follow because the car could be tossed anywhere. Friend of mine broke his neck in a similar.
