I didn't have the FX-3 on mine, but my shocks were worn out.

I'm a Bilstein fan., If they are good enough for GM, Toyota, Porsche ETC to use them on their factory cars then I think they have something. And they have a lifetime warranty.
Best place I found to buy them and the only place I found that sells 95-96 Z51 shocks...

I ended up buying the FX3 Bilteins from Ecklers, the bushings from MidAmerica. Replaced them yesterday without any problems, rides a lot better now. The actuators were still working so it was worth it to buy the fx3 shocks.

thanks for the information, now that the weather is getting better, i'm going to need to make a decision on what to do about the shocks. I hate to remove the adjustable shocks and replace with standard, but there awfully expensive. I'll keep you posted.............

A
I just replaced my base 1994 OE with the Bilstein Z51 spec dampers and wow what a difference. My shocks were absolutely shot. I purchased the car about six months ago and have been taking care of neglected maintenance items since. This shock replacement elevated the ride and handling dramatically.
I did this week in my garage in a couple hours, easy job. There is a good YouTube video for the rear shocks and after completing that you can tackle the front without issue.
With regards to the fx3, I would stick with that system. Those fx3 shocks can be sent to Bilstein and rebuilt lots to of guys do it that way. As for the actuators pull the ne off at a time and have a friend key up the ignition to the accessories point. While you are holding it, you should feel and hear the actuator test cycle.
