First, GM 140 amp alternator (on my 96 LT). You can't stick a piece of paper between the bearing and the valve cover.

Then the Mechman. Notice the lack of exposed fan too. I ran into these guys at one of the big rod shows by accident. Problem was they didn't have fitments for an LT motor. No problem, they'd make the necessary ears. Mechman.com makes high output alternators using C-6 guts, this one will put out 140 amps at idle in package much smaller than older GM! I now have an alternator that clears the end of the valve cover so I can remove it without taking the alternator off.

Neat.
What did that little jewel set ya back? Bet it wasn't small change. It do look better, overall, with the rest of you engine compartment, for sure. If it makes it easier to work on stuff in there, even better! Thumbs Up

The cost. Well, the billet version is about double and the cast version about 50% more but the cost was worth the benefits to me. After watching what some people are paying for junk on "Pawn Stars" or "American Pickers", it was a bargain. Hey, maybe I have some junk I can sell for 10x what it's worth to pay for Vette parts! Smile
