Had my head down a few things. My current is the following to replace the stamped steel crossmembers that run diagonally to help support the motor. They are really just that since they are far too flexible to provide any chassis stiffness....so built this one from 2x2x316 SS tubing. Started really with the motor mounts since I needed to set the engine back 1/2" to 3/4" so crank trigger clears the rack and pinion but that's another story. What you see is not quite complete since it also gets a crossmember in the middle for real stiffness and bolts up through them to fasten the mount. Took a long time to fit because of all the compound angles and the two sides not being symmetrical. (Can't see why GM made them different from side to side but they did). I'll load the final later if anybody is interested but the crossmember will hide some detail. We'll see if it does help the stiffness ....

Here's the final version of my K-member with the torque member added. Keen eyes will see I ground through the driver's brake line squaring the engine bolt tube. Needed to be upgraded to SS anyway (on the way but it could have waited). I't hard to see but the crossmemember drops down about 1/2" to provide about 3/8" clearance to the pan at the tightest. Compound angles again were fun to get right.
 
The second one is for the bracket between the ladder and the tail housing of the tranny. I slotted the holes in the ladder which lets it drop unless the bolts are really tight and this adder allows me to draw them together with a wrench.
 
The starting point was to set the engine back and I managed to get the 3/4" additional between the damper and the rack. Big job but I'm pretty happy how it turned out. Hopefully it will provide the stiffness I'm expecting too.
