Vette(s): 1994 Black Rose Coup.
My 94 has a little over 175,000 miles and is starting to get a bit tired, She doesn't burn oil but there is a small leak around the oil pan.  I know that in the near future I will have to pull the motor and rebuild or replace it.  I was thinking about going with a 383 LT1 long block, that will give me 440 hp but the cost is twice that of a stock 300 hp LT1.  So does anyone have any thoughts?   Is the extra 140 hp worth the extra $3000?  Do I need to modify the hood if I go with a Edelbrock  intake?  Etc?

Stick or automatic? Automatic could use a converter and some up-grades to take advantage of the new power and it's addictive. For me, the money is well spent but, to realize that power level you'll need the hot cam, rockers, headers, better exhaust, air intake, tires, dyno time and programming .....so 3k is just a down payment. On the other hand, hard to stop smiling when you push the "loud pedal".
